Hello reader! My name is Alana Ellis. I’m from the east end of Long Island, and I’m a junior here at William and Mary. I am a William & Mary scholar with a scholarship for overcoming adversity. I’m a business analytics major with a concentration in marketing (and maybe in sustainability? Can I have two concentrations??). Becoming a student at the business school was never something I saw myself doing, but here we are! I have worked as a beach lifeguard for six years, sprinkling in countless night hours of waitressing and a little bit of bartending. I coach at-risk adolescent girls in triathlon and confidence building, something I have been doing since early high school. This has proven to be my most rewarding work yet.
I hope to graduate and become successful in my field, working for a company that shares the same values that I do. In Virginia, I work 35 hours/week at Michael Kors. I enjoy my time here as it allows me to work on my social skills (yikes), and stoke my creative fire through fashion (ayee). This presses me for time, especially when it comes to group projects but I do my best in all aspects of life. My work at Michael helps to distract me from school work when it becomes overwhelming and allows me to pay my bills:)
I’m really looking forward to spending the semester with you and hope to learn something!
Let’s get innovative,
xoxo lana
